Though I didn't think there would be a problem, early tests with Nintendo's new Wii Remote Plus indicate that performance with it is as good as the original with no difficulties when used with Pentabulous!. My supplier has lots and I will probably get quite a few to have once my current stock of the original run out.

General Discussion / Possible Wii Remote Shortage in US
« on: January 14, 2010, 11:09:32 AM »
I am making this post to alert everyone to potential shortage of the very device that is so crucial to all that we do. I have been unable to sell any Nintendo Wii Remotes since the middle of December. First there was the incredible crush of folks snatching them up for Xmas which is completely understandable. Now I have learned that there was some sort of problem at the end of December with the factory that Nintendo uses for the production of official wiimotes. This coupled with the pending Chinese New Year could mean a real shortage at least for a few weeks. One of my suppliers says the end of February at the earliest. I say it could be March or later. So if you can find them retail, get them. Tuesday, I attempted to buy more than three from Amazon and was unable and have not been permitted to purchase any more since. So it looks like a little bit of a wait...

Well it's finished and now there is another Windows app for creating a Wiimote Interactive Whiteboard.

A couple notes:
- This app only supports the connection of one wiimote. The vast majority of people use just the one and get great results.
- The connection and disconnection routines are only usable for those whose BT adapters are natively supported in Windows.

Pentabulous / to offer FREE Wiimote Whiteboard software
« on: October 10, 2009, 11:51:09 AM » is presently working with a developer to provide a FREE Windows version of the wiimote interactive whiteboard software. It will feature a bluetooth connectivity routine utilizing the MS Bluetooth stack as well as the disconnecting of the wiimote when the application is closed. We will not be including any annotation functions as those are readily available in other free programs.

Teachers will especially find this application refreshingly simple to implement in a classroom setting.

As Uwe Schmidt already makes a free Mac application available, we will continue to support his work and thank him for making continued improvements.

We are days from beta testing and the world wide release is slated for November 1.

Hello Wiimote Project community,

As a long time supporter of this site and proprietor of, I finally saw fit to ask Nintendo about what it thought of the use of its Wii Remote for things other than entertainment - most notably the Wiimote Whiteboard. I simply posed my question through an online form and this is the response I received about a day later.

Thank you for writing. While we are grateful for your interest in our Wii Remote for uses other than gaming, our current workload is such that we do not have the resources to commit to either researching these possibilities for our systems or accessories or processing work done by others. Our focus is solely on entertainment value of our products.

This would indicate to me that there's not too much to worry about. I would not call it a blanket permission to do whatever one would like but it makes me feel better.

So continue the good work here friends and Happy Wiimoting!

Accessories / Wiimote QuickRelease
« on: March 29, 2009, 01:40:47 PM »
So you’re tired of having to stand underneath your wiimote and pressing buttons 1&2 to get it to connect to your computer? We found this handy item and knew it had to be a part of the offerings. The new Wiimote QuickRelease should be used only with our Wiimote CoverMount presently. We are redesigning our PowerMount to be used with it as well. The concept is quite simple. Attach the QuickRelease insert to your CoverMount using the provided threaded stud and then snap both in place on the wiimote. Secure the wiimote to the QuickConnect base with the handy spring-loaded lever for fast, secure locking and release.
