I think this is so GREAT.  My professor just gave us a final project where we have to build a circuit that measures the different orientations of the head.  Yaw, pitch, Three angles.  I was online looking for magnetometers and accelerometers and realized it would be way out of my price range.  I then thought about my Wii remote and after some research came across this page.

I guess my first question is can this project be successful by integrating the wii remote into my circuit?  the project is worth 40% of the grade!

You can use the camera on the wiimote to triangulate - we use it in various applications here...

You have to mount 3 LED's in a triangular fashion(not planar) and then feed the positions into your application - the only problem is to tell which one is which... unless you pulse the LED's there is no way to determine this...

You can pulse a LED with a simple chip and hey presto :)
As example: If you pulse 2 out of 3 LED's the one that is not pulsed(constant on) can be upwards - feed these pulses into your application and then you know.

This whole setup assumes the wiimote to be stationary...

Of course I'm just thinking loud..but I think this is the best way to go.

hello everyone , i m new here and i would need some help too

I would like to know the exact position of the accelerometer in the wiimote in order to do some some theorical studies to compare them with expirements , i was thinking to put the wiimote on a constant rotative plan (like that we know the acceleration of a point of this plan ) , the wii-analyzer could do it ?

i hope that you understand what i mean and i hope that you will be able to help me

You might get more support if you started your own thread, explain your concept and skills better.

Might want to play with this first:
