Couldn't resist buying these:

3 dollars for 8 coloured lights! Anyway, quickly replaced the led with an IR led (not a great one) no soldering or gluing needed - just slots in after snipping one led leg a bit shorter. With a little bending the switch becomes a momentary switch you can operate with your thumb (put the light under your index finger, not on top like in the picture on the website). So there you go, an IR pen in less than a minute and for ridiculously little cash.

Seems to work well on my laptop (will try in school tomorrow) but the included batteries were, unsurprisingly, short-lived. Replaced with some better ones.

One day I'll get the time to make something remarkable like you other guys are doing, but for a quick demo to my colleagues tomorrow this is pretty cool!

As an aside, since you get 8 torches for your 3 dollars, you could easily attach 2 to a pair of glasses for head tracking, or use 2 for the "minority report" stuff.
