ok, seriously, im about to cry, ive worked on this for about three days altogether and NOTHING.  I'm using http://www.terracode.com/IR_Pen/DIY_IR_Pen.html as a guide and bought ALL the parts, using their parts #.  I have four of each and none work.  I know that the longer is the pos and shorter is the neg, so i got that but still, nothing.  I dont need a resistor but i didnt solder, i just used the rubber boot to hold them, and wrapped the wire around the switch, does this matter?
I used a webcam to test because it detects my TV remote IR, does THIS matter? and finally, ill try to get pics up, ASAP. 

ANY suggestions will help, THANK YOU

It seems everythngs ok...
Check my IR Pen #2 http://clinik.net/wiimote/wiimote_info_my_pen_2.php just in case...
Perhaps you have some ideia...

IM not sure here but you say you tested with the webcam - did you see the light go on/off from the IRpen ?

just 1 thing to make sure works...

webcam, cellphonecams, digicams all works just fine to verify your IR-LED turns on and off when you press your buttons

First:

Second:
Solder!  ;D
The low current is easily lost through a poor connection. A soldering Iron cost a few dollars from any electronics store.

good news and bad news!
Good news: I got it working! bad news, it was w two AA and nit burned both me and the bulb....so ya....i guess i bought the wrong LED though i used the given product code.   
Bad News: it burnt out.   I have one more and i hope i can figure out WTF...

i found it it used AA cuz i was soldering w a ColdHeat (which if you have one, you know they suck) and it came on, so i used two AA like the CH does and it burnt me and the bulb.

any suggestions? one more try....

i hope i dont have to order any more of these LEd, i gotta ship them cuz the nearest place that sells then IE radiocrap is 80miles away
