I just made a new IR pen for my Wii Whiteboard.  Took about two minutes and only cost the price of one IR LED.  And, best of all it has "Indiana Jones" emblazoned across the side!  With a light touch push button and a separate built in on/off switch to prevent battery run down, this slick device fits really comfortably in the palm of my hand.  I don't even like to put it down!  Best of all, it is mostly FREE (except for the price of the aforementioned IR LED).

Thank you, to Tony the Tiger and the engineers at Kellogg Cereals!

I found this remarkable device in a specially marked package of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes.  Oh, it is advertised as, "the Indiana Jones Adventure Spoon." But, you don't really need an LED light up spoon to find your way to your cereal in the morning.  Do you?  From the moment I laid eyes on it, I knew it would serve a much higher purpose in my classroom.

After some difficulty breaking the iron grip my four year old had on it, The spoon end popped off easily (supposedly for washing after breakfast). I discovered that carefully applied pressure to the seams made it crack open like a pistachio nut. Careful opening assured that the innards would not get lost in the carpet.   Changing out the original LED for the IR one was just a pop out, pop in.  Then, I cut off the soft plastic collar that was meant to accept the spoon attachment. The thing easily snapped back together.  Voila, a new IR pen for my Wii Interactive Whiteboard.

I bought my kid another box of Frosted Flakes.  But, if one Indiana Jones light pen is good. . .

I posted a pic from work, but it only shows up in IE not Firefox.  Apparently you cannot add a pic in Firefox at all.
