Title: IR LED over heating -issue-

set up is
ir led 1.5 volts
1 AA bat 1.5 volts
after few seconds of use the IR LED over heats and also the battery over heats.
any solution for that...

Add a resistor.  Something on the order of 10 ohms probably.

You need to add a resistor. Even if the LED forward voltage is equal to the battery voltage. You need that to limit the current. Use this calculator http://ledcalculator.net
