How many people would want pre-made pens? i mean hand made by people on this board. perhaps there could be a trade section that allowed people to put up requests or designs for pens and then the more handy technical people could make and sell them for cheap.

this of course would need to be policed to make sure fellow wiimoters were not trying to take advantage of other wiimoters but it would also provide a place where the people that are not as skilled in the craft could get some custom made for them for less than having to buy the high price pens that have IR + other capabilities that are not even needed for the apps.

Who here would buy a pen from other board members so long as it wasn't exorbitantly high in price? say, cost + 10-15% (for labor of course) + shipping? i don't know, just a thought.

Details, details. Things to do. Things to get done. Don't bother me with details, just tell me when they're done.

I'd buy one or two, I'm sure. While I have computer skills, I am all thumbs when it comes to soldering and working on small electronics.

So I just bought "everything" needed to make these pens: (as far as I know)

LEDs = .20 cents (come in packs of 5 at the place I found them)
switches = .2 cents (I bought 100 for 2$)
Pens = .50 cents (at walmart)
battery (not sure, I just use one i have), but I think that aaa would be best
wire = free as well, just grab some network cable and have at it

so basically these pens are like $1.50 maybe 2$.  Maybe more if you're going to buy a mount for your battery (rather than using tape, like I was thinking :))

So a reasonable mark up would be based on a %, but instead on time.  No one is going to sell these things for $2.25, that means they'd have to take like 2 seconds to make.  I imagine there are several people that would sell them for say $10

On the other hand, buying in bulk is a lot cheaper, and possibly someone might be willing to sell the parts needed for cheap (like if you're looking for small switches let me know :)).

I bought 100 bulbs and I am looking for the best momentary button switch. Until then, I am replacing the LEDs in those little squeeze lights on keychains. That way, the thing costs $2 or so in parts.

I would definitely buy at least one pen, and I would be willing to drop ten bucks on one no problem.

I had to order the leds from abroad, i had to order min. 5 pieces (almost a dollar each) + around 6 dollars for shipping (plus the switch and battery holder around a dollar).. and i still did not get the parts and I'm not sure how will the pen work when i assemble it.. so yes i would pay 10 dollars for a pen that works (but would expect it to look decent...)
