I'm pretty new to this but have made a couple of wands out of PVC, plumbing tube, cork and battery case.  I found by looking through the IR setting of my video camera that the IR LEDs are a lot brighter head-on, so I'm going to turn the bulb 90 degrees.  That'll give a smaller profile and focus my calibration anyway.

I found that even after calibrating carefully and adjusting the x-y to correct the cursor, I am never quite sure where it is until I click -- and then it's too late.  Is there a way to show the cursor moving before the click, as you would with a real mouse?  Maybe I just haven't found the setting, there's so much functionality built in already.

Thanks, this has great potential for me.

The camera cannot detect the IR-led if it is turned off and cannot track the pen while you move it like that..

But....if you pulse the IRled you can adjust the program to track this pulse and then you know where the cursor is...

The program will then have to "listen" for 2 kinds of signals...1 pulsed that  move the cursor and 1 that actually performs the click

Both can be initiated by pulse to tell them apart (but its pointless to initiate the move-pulse with a pulse)

all that requires is some code and a IRpen that is using a 555processor or something else (PIC) to manage the pulses...

(its been done before)
