Hello!

I would like to make IR Pen, but I do not know which led would be the best?
At local store I have 4 type of leds available:
Model, mm, view angle, pdf
IR2234, 3mm, 30 , http://www.elfa.se/pdf/75/07522352.pdf
IR204, 3mm, 35 , http://www.elfa.se/pdf/75/07520356.pdf
IR323, 5mm, 30 , http://www.elfa.se/pdf/75/07520372.pdf
IR333, 5mm, 48 , http://www.elfa.se/pdf/75/07522519.pdf
All models wavelength are 940nm.
The difference is in view angle, mA and mW/sr.
Which one led wiimote will see the best?

Thanks!

Welcome and Välkommen :)

It all depends on your pen and a bit on what kind of surface you are going to use it on.

I would use the 333model myself but It's really hard to say what is best for you and your surfaces

I reused LED's from old remotes and I use the 10pc pack from kjell.com - all works just fine

Med Vänliga Hälsningar
(best regards)

Sure!

and in english...(in case you are not swedish)

The first 2 diodes are 3mm in diameter and the other 2 are 5mm

A diode that drains a small ammount of mW makes the batteries last longer

The wider angle makes it easier for the wiimote to pick up.

Pinsamt att snacka svenska med en lett. ;)

Emh, I've not seen anyone here using 3mm diods. I'm using them and they seem to work really well. Though I haven't finished my pen, my current tests have worked really well. All depending on whether you are going to use it on a projector or LCD, but on a LCD they work well.

Nice - i didn't know that Elfa was located outside scandinavia

(my bad)

I dont see any reason not to use the 3mm's - while you are at it, grab a few of each to try :)
