This one is written entirely in python. I've been working on it for some time. Now we are interested in using electronic whiteboards at the place I work, so I am really interested in making this application stable, usable and user-friendly.

I can use some feedback (I would be delighted) if any of you want to try the app yourself.

Source code: http://github.com/pnegre/python-whiteboard (downloadable using git)

Pre-packaged debian/ubuntu packages: http://github.com/pnegre/python-whiteboard/downloads

I think the user interface is self-explanatory. In the calibration screen, the order is: top-left, top-right, bottom-right, bottom-left.

Right now, I am actively developing the app, so you can expect to find a new version every couple of days (until full stabilization is archieved).

Let me know how it works for you! I am aware that some problems arise when using ubuntu desktop effects. I am not sure if it's a qt-related bug or a programming fault. Try to disable desktop effects if you encounter such trouble.

New application whiteboard linux is not usually something you would do with PHP. PHP is a server side language to process the data before sending to the client. You can investigate using something like AJAX or Flash to write something and interacting with these technologies.
