MSN me if you want quicker help or:

Which Led are you using sounds like you may be using a normal Led not a IR-Led. If you can see the light it emits with your eyes its not an IR-led.

Glad we solved your problem, here are some notes on how to improve your IR-Pen.

1. Use a Vishay TSAL6400 or Vishay TSAL5300 IR-led
2. Only use 1x 1.5 battery (AAA or AA) then you don't need a resistor
3. The switch you have is fine, but if you use what is called a 'tactile switch' or a 'micro SPDT switch' it will take less pressure to activate and be nicer to use. Given a physics project I would not bother, but if you need to write a report for your teacher mention it as a way to improve what you have done.

Read my post: http://www.wiimoteproject.com/ir-pens/electronics-101-sharing-my-mistakes!-***-updated-***/ especially lesson 3. The whole post relates to the physics of IR-Leds and the Wiimote, maybe worth mentioning some in your report. If you need help understanding it (I can't translate to Mexican) PM or MSN me and I will try to explain better.

Goodluck, let me know how you go
