Project Ideas / Re: big honkin' 3d trackball
« on: May 21, 2008, 08:34:00 PM »
I had the same idea two weeks ago but my idea is a 3D desktop
in my design i have two wiimotes at a 90 degree angle and it would track up to four IR pens or one pen with 4 LEDs on it. It would do this by using a circuit to turn one LED on at a time(or moving them in view one at a time would work but only for IR pens)

My first thoughts was that i could attach 3D animated objects to the the four points but as i thought about it i discovered it might be used with Johnny Lee's head tracking, with head tracking a 3D desktop could be a reality, Doctors could practice surgery could draw in 3D and think of the video games!

Im working on it but i have vary little programing skill and im vary busy.
vary cool idea using a ball to control you PC simple things can be the best.

Have you tried turning on one IR LED at a time, Then the wiimote might think that the first one is top left and the second is top right and so on.

Im going to try this method on one of my projects with the wiimote,if it works let me know

Say Hi! / Hello all
« on: May 13, 2008, 09:46:12 PM »
Hello all.

Im a want-to-be engineer
young and full of ideas

im wanting to make a program That tracks 4 points with the wiimote.
If i can get it to work it could display a 3D model attached to the points
Think of holding a Little IR pen but with 2 IR LEDs one on each end,
as you move you hand into the area where two wiimotes are facing at a 90 degree angle,
once both wiimotes can see the IR lights a water bottle(or any other computer rendered model) is shown on the screen oriented the same as the pen!
as you move the pen you move the bottle... just a idea i plan to explore.

Im not much of a form parson but ill spend alot of time here.  Nice site! ;)
