##### Wiimote Desktop VR/Head Tracking / best way to position wiimote

hi there

I'm just about to start a project where I will take Johnny's technique and adapt into a kind of interactive tourist guide. Using panoramic images of holiday locations/landmarks, etc. Along with (hopefully) a bunch of features. It could in trn be adapted into an educational tool in which historical representations of things like the Roman coliseum, towns, etc are shown to school kids as a way of showing how people lived, etc.

Anyway, I installed everything I needed and fired up the example Johnny shows on his website. I haven't yet bothered to build IR goggles or anything, since I just wanted to test that the thing worked. The sensor bar is fine for that, I'll look into the goggle option later.

I got everything connected and got it running on my PC monitor (a regular 15-inch LCD monitor). But I wasn't able to get anywhere near the level of control that is on the video. This is mainly because I'm not sure of the best way to position the Wiimote - and in turn, how far back I should be standing with the sensor bar on my head.

My monitor is on my desk and I have limited space in my room to move about, this may or may not be a factor.

Here's my thinking:

If I'm a certain distance away from the Wiimote/monitor - and I know the distance from the top of the table to the sensor bar on my head (my height minus height of table) I could then 'draw a line' from my head to the wiimote and work out the angle the wiimote should be.

Is there a simpler way of doing this? I'm fine with maths - but measuring those distances would seem overly complex.

I'm thinking of writing a little app or add-on to help calculate the required angle or distance you need for a given situation. That way you know how to set things up for different displays, etc.

Any suggestions would be great.
