Hey,

I'm a grad student at CMU interested in using the Wiimote as a cheap base for a number of cool robotics applications.

General Hardware Talk / Wiimote I2C connectivity

Hey,

I'm new to Wiimote hacking, and am trying to figure out what's possible before digging in.  I've got an interest in robotics, and would love to develop a daughterboard for the Wiimote which communicates over I2C.  From my web research it looks like reading data to the Wiimote is possible as long as you format the data in the same way as the nunchuk or classic controller.  However, does anyone know if it is possible to arbitrarily write to a peripheral over the I2C bus?  A daughterboard wouldn't be much fun unless you could use the Wiimote to tell it to turn on motors, LEDs, or servos.

Secondly, if writing is possible, can one tell the Wiimote to start sending data automatically over the I2C bus?  For example, can I, with a single bluetooth command tell the Wiimote to stream the accelerometer data over I2C to the peripheral?  I don't expect this to be possible, but it'd be awesome if it was!
