Project Ideas / Is it possible? Has it been done?
« on: February 17, 2009, 01:32:36 PM »

I'm familiar with the finger tracking, but can you actually use your fingers to Interact with the computer? Mouse pointed, left/ right click?  If so, how is this done? Is there a specific thread that details how it's set up and what programs I'd need?

Project Ideas / ABleton Live+Wiimote+glovepie script: compensation involved
« on: February 10, 2009, 10:55:32 AM »

I am willing to pay up to 20.00 USD for a glovepie script to use with my wiimote and ableton live.

All I wish for is to be able to use the wiimotes motion sensing to trigger drum hits, for the drum rack and the impulse instruments.

I would also like to have the option of using the back button (B) on the wiimote to trigger kick drums, and the accelerometer to trigger snare hits..

The "-" and "+" buttons to change programs or next set of pad on drum rack. I should be able to navigate between one shots on the drum track with these buttons, to which one shot i wish to trigger.

The " A" Button to record.

the D-pad: up and down directions trigger "zoom in, zoom out" left and right directions should be able to trigger the scroll marker.

not sure what I'd attribute buttons 1+2 to. If you got ideas, PM me.

If you are Interested, PM me. Also, I have two wiimotes. THIS IS What i'd love to be able to accomplish.

Other Projects / Would like to use wiimote with my live :(
« on: February 10, 2009, 02:36:42 AM »

Can somebody please help me? I have a wiimote which has successfully been recognized by my Bluetooth pc connection, I have glovepie and windows Xp sp3.

I want to be ble to trigger drum shots from either impulse or kontakt 3, in the same manner this YouTube gentleman is triggering his drums using the wiimotes accelerometer.

I don't know anything about scripting FYI. If there are any drum scripts please let me know!

I want to be able to trigger drums using the wiimotes accelerometer, and maybe utilizing the "-" and "+" buttons to initiate program change.

Is this possible?

Wiimote Interactive Whiteboard / Problem with Whiteboard
« on: February 05, 2009, 02:29:21 PM »

I ordered a IR pen from ebay, and thought i'd give this a shot.

However, it isnt what I expected it to be compared to chung lees video. no matter where i place and position wiimote i get very erratic movements of the mouse pointer if i point the IR marker to the screen. more than half the time the cursor isnt even in sync with the IR markers position on screen.  It only seems to work if i hold the IR marker in front of wiimote and move wiimote as  if I held a lighter instead.

I am using an LCD mind you.  I've tried both white/smooth boards.  Not sure if it matters or not but i noticed in jonnys videos has he tracked the whiteboard squiggly designs appeared. Is that common ? If so, I dont get any squggly lines. ( if it matters)

Here is the Ir Marker that came today.

Is it supposed to light up?

Project Ideas / Using IR enabled webcam
« on: February 04, 2009, 10:13:31 PM »

After a bti of research I came across the webcam Mod. Typical results weren't all that impressive as theres a bit of latency/lag.

I've read this is due to the the quality/resolution of the webcam, where the wiimote greatly excels at 1024x768.

To my knowledge standard webcams come as 640 x 480, so I figure in order to get better tracking results on whiteboard/LCD I need to find a better webcam with a greater resolution.

A few eBay searches led me to these:

10.0M 6 LED USB Webcam Web Cam Camera for PC Laptop+Mic|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50

12M USB 12 MEGA Webcam Driverless PC Video Camera + MIC|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1308|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50

I'm really not all that technical when it comes to reading specs, but for the first webcam i noticed..
Max dynamic resolution: 1600 X 1200 pixels
Max static resolution: 3648 X 2736 pixels

and for the second I noticed
Dynamic : 2592 x 1944 (5.0M) Mega pixels,
static : 3840 x 2880 (12M) Mega pixels (software)

So, would any of these webcams (modified) provide similar tracking to that of the wiimote?
