Wiimote Smoothboard / License and popup-box
« on: August 08, 2009, 10:02:44 PM »
Well, because the previous thread on this was locked, I'm not able to respond to the claim that I was complaining having to pay!

Which I wasn't. I was complaining about the license as supplied in the installer, stating that it is free for educational use but then goes and places restrictions on it.

I know full well that the programmer is entitled to charge for his work, I am not disputing that. He is not however entitled to make false claims as I believe he is/has done in the license supplied when installed.

Stating it is free to use, but then having pop-ups continuously appear which when clicked on do not return focus to what you were doing, but places focus on a webpage, is by no definition, free use.

If he wishes to charge for it, by all means, but state that in the license. Do not state it is free for educational use.

I'm sorry if I sound irate, but I do not like having my ability to respond to accusations made about me take away.

Hi,
In your license you say it is perfectly OK to use this software for free in personal/non-profit/educational setting, yet you have the floating Smoothboard logo and the continuous pop-up box saying that it is unregistered.

Whilst this is a great program to use, you need to decide whether or not you really want to allow unrestricted use in an educational setting, because at the moment you are not providing that.

Perhaps you could offer free Education licenses to people who provide the address of the schools that it is being used in.

But until you remove the pop-up box and floating add, yit is not going to be an effective tool in a classroom.

Wiimote Java Whiteboard / java white board on windows
« on: August 01, 2009, 09:37:59 PM »
Hi there, I was wondering if someone could help me get this program running on windows 7

I get the error

WiiRemote Failed to conect!
Not Supported on winsock

what does this mean?

I am using the generic bluetooth stack that comes with Windows 7 and I am able to use Smoothboard with it.

I thought I had installed bluecove, but I may be wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.
