General Hardware Talk / Resolve Under Sampling
« on: February 07, 2010, 10:33:13 AM »
Hi when building a source of infrared what voltage is needed in order to produce a smooth stream on the Z axis? Currently I have two Infrared bulbs hooked up to two AA batteries, but the Z axis samples are jumping from high two low without a stream of data in between, Does anybody have any ideas that would help me? Would save me a lot of trial and error research. Thanks

General Discussion / Equations?
« on: December 18, 2009, 08:54:41 AM »
Not too sure if this is the right part of the board to post this but, Does anybody know what the Equations are that are added to the targets in the head-tracking program? I am building system at the moment and am thinking of using the Euclidean Distance Metric on the Z axis along with Motion Parallax on the X and Y, Is this a correct approach? Thanks in advance,

General Discussion / General Help

Hi, Ive recently started working on a head tracking project and was wondering if anybody had any pointers for starting out? What to watch out for where to even start would be a big help to be honest. I'm a but in the deep end!

Quite a mouthful I know but thats the name of the project I'm working on for my undergraduate Final year project. I'm Studying Music Media and Performance Technology in the University Of Limerick (Ireland). My course hasn't dealt with much coding so this is a new area for me. The idea would be to produce visuals similar to those on the windows media player and display them on a LED screen where the user can immerse themselves using head tracking.

The only experience I have with coding is a very basic a java module we did in my first year. So the question i'm asking where do I start? Is C# necessary? or is it possible to produce this on another program using the same live inputs? EG PD or Flash?

Basically i'm in the deep end here and would love any pointers!! Thanks in advance for the replies!
