IR Pens / Small IR pen design help needed to help save lives.
« on: January 18, 2010, 08:21:49 PM »
Hello all,

I'm trying to find a solution in creating an IR pen equal to 0.355", .4005", .452", and .224" in diameter.  The length of the IR pen does not have to be specific.  The diameter is specific because I need the IR to fit inside a 9mm Luger, .40 Caliber S&W, .45 Caliber ACP, or .223 Caliber firearm.

I also need the design to accompany a button on the back, so when the firearm's trigger is pulled and the firing pin goes forward, the IR pen is activated for a brief time.

I'm thinking having several hearing aid batteries as a power source, but how would I complete the circut?  Any ideas on I could create such an IR pen???

I'm making this to allow very small police departments a viable alternative to expensive shooting simulators.  On average these IR reader's and IR pens cost $2000.  I know of one police department that is very small, and comprises of one low paid police officer and the rest are volunteers.  Unfortunately with the rising cost of ammunition, which the officers pay out of their own pocket, I figure such a project would be a good solution.

Hello everyone!

My name is Samuel, and I'm from Oregon.  I'm glad I have a resource like this.  I'm trying to create an affordable shooting simulator for law enforcement officers so they may have a viable option with a low budget.  I will post my question in the other forum, so please look for it because it may just save lives.

Thanks!
