You could use 2 of the cameras from the wiimote and use an IR laser to determine distance with out it being noticeable.

I had a similar problem.
After the initial wii to pc connection in "my bluetooth places" I see my wii controller. If you disconnect and later try to connect by clicking on the icon in there I get the skip button not working issue. If I go to "my bluetooth places" and click on "add a bluetooth device" from there I can get the skip button to work and it connects just fine.
Sounds like the two are similar. Glad to see i'm not the only one with this problem.
Thanks John

I have an order in for some rubber rods from McMaster Carr to try my hand at making some push buttons. I'll update here when they arrive and I find out if I ordered the right material lol.
No special battery holder, I tried to use the existing components of the pen to make it work. It was my first attempt and there are alot of thigs I would do differently the second time around.
I have a friend that wants me to make him one. I will take pictures of the process so I can create a guide for making the pen.
Thanks John

What logic is in your micro controller? ie... what is it reading frome the camera, what kind of data are you getting from the camera? Is this micro controller communicating to the pc via the serial bus?
thanks John

Yeah, I installed the belkin drivers first and then ran the update. Oh, I had to reboot after that too but you probably did too.
Can't think of anything else special I had to do. Let me know how it goes. Btw, what bluetooth dongle are you using?
thanks John

Thanks for the reply. I glanced at OneNote but I have not really looked at it hard yet. I will do that now that you suggested it. If its a good option I might be able to get the company to swing for it since i'm providing the whiteboard.
Thanks agian. John

Hi,
Thanks for posting your pen design.
When I was tesing my pen in my conference room they had put up a pull down canvas which was a couple of inches away from the wall. I really didn't have anything to pus against to activiate the pen. In that situation I was able to test only because I had that button.
I do like the push to write idea, just might not work in every situation.
