OK. I downloaded the WiiConnect application and it comes up, connects my Wiimote, but when I try to have it run a program (Grid, finger tracking, etc), nothing happens. What's going on? BTW - I am using Vista on an HP Pavillion

Wiimote Desktop VR/Head Tracking / Jerky Targets
« on: April 23, 2008, 01:47:50 AM »
I have vista on my laptop and have followed all the wonderful suggestions listed (btw, many thanks to those who have offered advice and solutions). Unfortunately, I still can't get the VR to work correctly. The zip file I downloaded had several "WiiDesktopVR.exe" icons imbedded in it and one of them works sparingly. The others give me the same error - "Can't find the wiimote; is it attached?" - despite me having my Wiimote connected and recognized via BT. I think it may be a code problem, but I'm not a programmer, soooo, if anyone has gotten around this error without downloading BlueSoleil (the program crashed my BT adapter), and you used Vista 32-bit home premium, please provide me with step-by-step instructions on your solution using basic English (I'm a beginner).

With the .exe file that does work, it behaves erratically. The targets come up, but when I move my IR source(s), the targets jerk from one position to the other for all of three seconds, then all movement ceases. I understand that the 3-D effect is more of a parallax effect (which is great for astronomers), but I would like to have a nice, seamless flow as viewed in Johnny's video. FYI - the frame rate fluctuates between 90-100. Again, advice would be greatly appreciated.

How did you enable the HID profile?

Wiimote Finger Tracking / Re: Wii Multipoint Grid

I can get my wiimote to connect to my BT but when I run the grid a message says "Cannot find a wii remote:  error reading data from wiimote...is it connected?"

Perhaps someone knows the solution?

I copied and pasted the namespaces and unfortunately, I now get all sorts of errors, mainly centered on not having a name HIDImports. A few "missing name errors" appeared for Marshal, and one for VID and PID.

I also renamed my project to "Wii 1st Try." Does that have anything to do with it.

Say Hi! / Hi from Shreveport, LA, USa

Hello all,

I'm here in Shreveport and a co-worker told me about these Wiimote projects, so I've decided to try and replicate them, particularly the finger and head tracking ones. I am not a computer programmer, but I did take a Java basic programming class a LOOOOOOOONNNNG time ago.

My apologies in not providing more detail.
What I meant by how do I run the program is how do I check to make sure it is doing what it is supposed to do? I copied and pasted the code language into the "Code View" box in C#, but there isn't a "run" button that I am aware of.

I did select "Build Solution," and received some errors
The first error reads
      The type of namespace name 'SafeFileHandle' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
It then points to this as the source of the error
       // read/write handle to the device
        private SafeFileHandle mHandle;

The second error reads
     The type or namespace name 'FileStream' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
It then points to this as the source of the error
        // a pretty .NET stream to read/write from/to
        private FileStream mStream;
        bool found = false;
        Guid guid;
        uint index = 0;

What do i do with this?

Wiimote Finger Tracking / Re: Help

I too had the same problem of obtaining an error message when running the grid program. I got a "path not found." I followed guerwan's advice and downloaded Blue Soleil. Unfortunately the program caused my BT dongle to stop working, but I think that's because I have Vista (Uggh!). Interesting enough, I uninstalled Blue Soleil, and my Wiitestremote program worked perfectly. Now I'm stuck on where to go from here.

Wiimote Finger Tracking / HID Device
« on: April 19, 2008, 11:55:19 PM »
i tried running the wiiremotetest.exe program and got an error message - "Wii Remote not found in HID device list." I hit "continue" and the box with boxes for the buttons popped up. How do I "fix" this error?

I am also a non-programmer. How do you run the program?
