Is there any way to know if a program can work with TUIO?

Hey Mahone, I have been wanting to do that exact same thing. I know of one product that would be of assistance to you , which is a software app which pretty much copies the lemur touchscreen controller, but it also only supports single touch "due to the way normal touch screens work"
I successfully use an IR pen on my monitor while using ableton, although I am not as fast as with a mouse right now. It would be very nice to be able to multi touch.  Chroos your idea is very interesting to me and I would love to test it when it comes out. Are you thinking that it would be almost like a software midi device floating on the screen? This would allow you to assign the knobs for any midi controllable function and then use both your fingers/ ir pens. If you made it customizable and re sizable than you would have a program that could do one simple task of changing two knobs at the same time, or  as many tasks as controlling all the functions you plan on using during a session (recording, performing, presentation)and it would be compatible with any program that takes midi. I am so into having this custom software midi device it makes me want to start building myself with max/msp. I would gladly pay 35 dollars (what monolive is asking) for this software midi device i describe. How is the project coming chroos?

Thanks but I am using a monitor that has no drivers, you just plug it in. I couldn't make these settings with a black border. Anyone else know about this?

How do I set the drivers to not stretch? I'm sorry I have looked all through and could not find anything like that.

Lately I have acquired a 10x10 overhead projector that I am going to use as an LCD projector, but my LCD is 15 inches. I have been searching all around with no luck trying to find a program or setting that will allow me to see a 10x10 box on my 15in monitor. Due to my lack of experience I don't really know what to call this, so searching is hopeless. Has anyone here heard of such an application or setting?

Wiimote Smoothboard / Re: Wiimote Smooth Board 0.1 BETA

This is the best whiteboard app! Much appreciation. Hats off. This opens up a lot of new avenues, now all I need is my favorite commercial applications to get multi touch capability.

Other Projects / Re: a Wiimote to control an audio software

I am trying to control some audio apps with the white board programm and it is working ok (need a projector to make it really better than a mouse) This application seems like a gimmick for the wiimote, but I will try it and get some experience with it. seems like you could do exactly what he was doing with your keyboard arrow keys and a few other keys.

I have been using the whiteboard for a few days and I really want to use it to its fullest as far as replacing the mouse and allowing my working at the PC to be more physical. I thought of this idea where you could have the cursor be a small circle with two or three buttons and a pointer coming out the top or side. This way you could click once to have the cursor appear like it is now, but you could move the pen to whatever button (left or right click) before you released the switch on the pen. Something like this would allow for left clicking without toggle or extra buttons on your pen.

PS. It would be nice if someone designed and manufactured the ultimate whiteboarding pen, with multiple buttons. Right now if I am using the on screen keyboard and I cannot do shortcuts like Shift+cntrl+4 very easily. I am wondering if I should scrap a keyboard and make a small pad that held only keys that I would use for shortcuts. Then if I was working standing up it could easily be strapped to me somehow. I don't know about this I have just been brainstorming to get as good with the pens as I am with a mouse and keyboard.

IR Pens / Re: Summary of IR Pens & Interactive Whiteboards that work
« on: July 06, 2008, 10:32:37 AM »
Power Supply (quantity x [v & mAh]): 1x AAA,
IR Led Strength (ma): 100, 150
IR Field of view (degree's): 50
IR LED Supplier (inc code if poss): ?? radio shack, threw package away
IR LED location on pen (tip, side, back): Tip
Resistor (none/ohms):none
Switch type: momentary
Working distance from Wiimote (line of sight distance from board to wiimote) (m): approx 1m for now
Maximum distance from Wiimote (m): tested to about 5m
Light conditions (dark/bright/ambient): ambient/ sunlight
Location of the Wiimote (give detail- distance/height/angle/mounting): I have the screen mounted at a 45 degree angle, and the wiimote is directly over it pointed straight down, I can get about 98 percent coverage at 2-3 feet away.
Projection media (whiteboard/sheet/projector screen/LCD): LCD monitor
Special instructions on hold pen to ensure success: works with left or right handed people
Bluetooth connection (internal/external & manufactures software/BlueSolie/other) HP Internal Stack, kennsington dongle
3 most commonly used programs controlled with Wiimote Interactive Whiteboard: ableton live 6.0, firefox, windows
Anything else relevant: I made two infrared lights. One is a small alien saucer keychain, and the other is a pen made from sharpie highlighter. What I have been doing is having the alien in my left hand covering the left side menus, while the pen in my right hand can move the scroller, or slice and drag audio regions. Anyone that is getting a keychain shaped IR light keep in mind that depending on where you are setup the hand holding it can get in the way of it being sensed, more importantly it can block the screen so you cannot see. That is why I made the second light pen shaped with a long tip to allow visibility on my small screen.

yeah I cannot find it on your blog now. I would like to try it.

success man thanks! everything is working now.  Except my IR pen is not actually.  I tried connecting the battery straight to the bulb to see if it was my circuit, but I must have picked out the wrong bulb somehow. I got a whitish blue infared led ahh I need to research the pen making. In the mean time I lit a match just to see if the wimote would read it and it did, so I assume the pen will complete my setup. So if we can learn anything from my experience it is if you have XPhome edition
*you don't need blue soliel to connect it
*the HP BT500 was not working as well as the kensington
*follow Benpaddlejones advice in the connection process

Thanks again.

I ended up just going and trading in the HP for a kensington. Now I have the wii controller on my bluetooth list, but it is not on the HID list so the apps do not startup. I see the controller and I click connect device, the bluetooth pairing screen comes up and asks me for a passcode. I tried 0000, i tried no code, I tried to press skip. any tips?

Ok, sorry for the multi posts on the same topic, I am REALLY wanting this, and am anxious please excuse me.
I verified that the USB is 2.0 and direct, the software for the dongle is updated. I tried to go to windows update for the sp3 but it will not work, it just searches and searches and sometimes will just come back to the first selection screen express or custom. I tried downloading sp3, but the copy was for office, and again I download but it will not finish installing, it stops and freezes midway through and I must go  through the whole process of going back to my previous setup (so time consuming) so I am currently downloading what I believe is the correct sp3 for home edition. Ill post and tell you how it has gone. I have had serious trouble getting this sp3, microsoft says ohh just use the automatic update sp3 will come, but hell no, only ie 7 comes and I dont even want it. trying not to be Frustrated..

I have been trying for days and hours and am having no luck. The software that came with the dongle says "your blue tooth device could not begin searching for devices" when I click to "add a blue tooth device" I have tried Bluesoliele with no luck AT ALL. I have tried Thex's software, I have tried changing the code that atom riot suggested with no luck. Can anyone tell me what my best move is at this point? I am feeling crazy not getting this to work. any help would be highly appreciated.
