Funny thing the accelerometer which is used in the wiimote is $2.36 so I ordered 12 of them and was able to read xyz data easily. After your imagination is bound to the software. The accelormeter is very small 4mm.

Possibilities are endless of course, but technically I doubt the wiimote can track other light sources. Again there are webcam solutions which you can track different colors or to me the best way without using any light source, for the sake of the machine gun solution, you can use MEMS technology to simulate the balistics effects of the bullet and by a software, know where you are shooting at any time. Take care

Hi eyucel. Dou you mean you have just one IR ligth on the pen? How do you send left and rigth click to the PC?... Maybe i missunderstood it...
The pen itself has an RF transmitter which is connected to a normal usb mouse. The IR pen is wireless and has the mouse's left and right click functions with two different buttons and one button for the IR led to light continously. I hoe this will give you some idea.

Very smart idea and of course applied creativity. Please keep us informed.

PS check http://www.wiimoteproject.com/ir-pens/laser-pointer-style-pen/

Can I use wimote for tracking laser points?
Yes you can but you have to remove the IR filter of the wiimote.

I think a machine laser gun shoot on target and tracking laser pont e get x an y coordenates of the laser shot, like a game does its possible!?

Your thinking is right because I did the same thing. I put a laser pointer (20MW) on top of a gun, replaced the wiimote in front of the target, used commercial shooting games it works perfect. The problem you have to solve is one shot-one single-very short laser pulse.
Good luck

Good thinking. But, I've tried contiunous IR light. It really does not work, any time wiimote sees another IR light, the pen behaves as if the left click is pressed and selects all the shortcuts on the desktop. The solution I've found is a button that will allow the IR light on just before you need to write sth on the screen, of course two more buttons for the left and right buttons. Take care.

Programmers Den / one single IR point
« on: May 18, 2009, 06:58:10 AM »
Hi everyone,
I've made a wireless IR pen with left and right click buttons with a IR led continously on. It works well, but usually wiimote detects more than one IR dot on the screen, and mouse pen in that case acts as if the left click button is pressed. My question is there any way that your program will have an option to see only one IR point (which is the brightest). Thank you

Hi, first of all thanks for sharing your genuinely wonderful software. My recommandation is an graphics add-onn on the bottom of the screen showing the position of the actual wiimote. Take care

Hi,
My answer was about your first comment

"After reading a few tutorials where people recommended using bluesoleil I tried that, but eventually learned that my particular USB was not supported by their program. I uninstalled bluesoleil and installed my hardware's drivers which does show a connection to the WiiMote. I was also able to get WiiMoteConnect to connect to the device without any issues.

My problems lies in that with trying Smoothboard, the wiimote gives errors of not being able to connect, while in GlovePie, it shows no connect at all."

Dotnetfx.exe whic is available in Microsoft's website fixes that problem and I am not working right now with any Glovepie script.
Take care

Hi have you tried to install Dotnetfx.exe, I had the same problem and fixed it with this file.

Dice,

it is not going to be used in public environment, but in short, regulations are against wireless communication.
Take care.

Dica thank you for the reply.
Connection could be via usb cable or com port, does not matter.
The reason is information security in general and secure connection.
Again appreciate your help.
