Our latest model of djewel is now a purpose built mould, not a retrofitted board marker.

There are many new products coming on to the market that are using the IR tech, Epson also has projectors - however they all seem to lack the wireless connectivity of the Wii models.

What is the maximum length of the USB cable (I had heard it was 10m but also could be extended with active cables)?

The manual pens we have seen all suffer from a lack of feedback. The LED can not visibly light up because the infrared wavelength is set by that required by the Wiimote. The switches used have not, until now, had a tactile feedback...

We have just started production of our newest manual verson which features the tactile 'click' when the pen is on - don't get me wrong this does not 'lock' the pen on, the switch is still a momentary contact switch that is held down to hold the light on but is does give an audible and tactile click which lets youknow the pen is active.

IR Pens / AAA Dual Switch Infrared Pen (Nib and Manual) The Djewel
« on: April 09, 2009, 01:58:23 PM »
We have added a dual function pen (the Djewel) to our range - nib pressure and manual switch on the same pen.

We have now added a budget manual pen to our range.

We have also expanded the range of accessories to include Wii remote mounting solutions.

I am pleased to announce that I have started production of a nib switch pen powered by an AAA battery. (AAA have a life measured in mAh of 1000+, the smaller watch style batteries are often less than 50.

The newest pen now keeps the LED assembly in the pen when you change the battery. A nib switch is essential for adopting a natural writing style, when you put the pen on the board the LED comes on when you lift it off the LED turns off. We also sell manual switch pens but younger children find the extra requirement to hold the button down while they write and then remembering to lift off the button when they finish a little more difficult than with the nib switch version.

No problem, the feedback I'm getting through Ebay is showing just how popular the 'nib' switch is (other names welcomed!) - the manual version is also pretty good at getting children to hold the pen in an appropriate position with the need to depress the button with the index finger, but it is staff mainly who want to be able to 'just write'.
