actually, dwmapi.dll has nothing to do with a crash. dwmapi.dll is always missing, sort of like that javas.dll or whatever that used to. dwmapi.dll has to do with xp latest service pack or vista. i forget exactly what it does but it is not what is crashing you.

if your into tech tools, get "Debugging tools for windows" and run that program with WinDBG. you can set up the symbol path to get the symbols from microsoft and then it will tell you what exception is being thrown. that will tell you where your problem is.

dwmapi.dll is like a vista or ie7 desktop manager dll or something. i do not remember the specifics.

The only real use of blue soliel i see is to make it easier to use bluetooth. but it also seems to add some functionality.

not using it means you have to do things a little differently but it still obviously runs without it.

If you can make something work by creating it yourself, i do not see the need in paying money to do the same thing, unless you are really proud of the project asking for money, in this case, i can run with everything windows brings to the table so i cannot justify paying for a software to take a step or two out of an already child doable process.

that looks pretty neat. But i am sure you are going to (if you have not already) get battered with a plethora of questions asking for that in windows.

Do you have your source available somewhere or is it going to be available somewhere?

if you dont have visual studio (express or full version) then just having the file will do you no good. you will need that code compiled into the application.

Visual Studio Express is a free download and really easy to use if you have all the source and step by step of what to change.

I know many great coders who didnt initially start out with any interest in coding or computers, all it took was that first little nudge.

thats a pretty neat application. that would be really cool to have on a wall in a mall or like the connecting tunnel at chicago airport and have a bright IR lights shining down and waiting for someone to walk by and then when they do, something on them reflects the IR and the wiimote picks it up. that would be pretty fun to sit and watch people realize they can interact with the wall.

i had sort of the same problem. i could make the pens show up really well pointing at them but sideways there were not so great. On my pens i started putting something semitransparent on the end to stop the direct beam of IR light and diffuse it a little more. that helped a ton.

i still have not gotten something for my big mama jama black pen but my other two do very well with an end cap on them

Definitely include the fact that the software is homemade and there is a great community supporting it so if you need something specific its only a matter of incorporating it yourself within the code.

The most handsome feature i think is the cost. You could have multiple class groups working together to get the project going, i.e. if you had an electronics group or something to make the pens / interface devices and have the computer club or just as a project in your computer classes modify and add to the code.

mobility is another factor. you don't absolutely have to have these things in every classroom. this solution gives you the ability to have one laptop and a blue tooth device and wiimote that can be passed around like a Vietnamese hooker in the navy though i wouldn't use that exact analogy.

in those videos it was mostly the white board app. basically it takes in from the wiimote through the wiilib the coordinates of the blobs in respect to the wiimote camera resolution, then it turns (warps) those into screen coordinates and uses a call from the user32.dll to move the mouse cursor.

you could do that in any application, but it is currently already done in the whiteboard app

perhaps there is a drawing tool within word that it automatically triggers. i could not find it in my 2007 version but i dont use word all that much. you could also provide a screen area that your application uses and or monitors and so you can draw whatever and when you are done it will move it into your clipboard as a bitmap and then you can paste it directly into word but i know to have direct interaction like that then you have to get the ms office sdk or something like that to allow you to link directly in with office apps.

you can adapt any app you make to take input from the wiimote using the wiilib so you could have a game like duck hunt or something and the trigger fires the gun if your using a wiimote.

the wiimote does not have a standard driver for windows that just automatically makes it a mouse, or at least not that i know of.

as far as windows events and say, 2 mouse pointers, good luck. that would require much effort to get to be clean. you would have to make a custom interface (shell) and do all the mouse differentiation on the back end in code to interpret how you want those multiple points handled if you were using it as a mouse. in your own app however, thats much easier since thats all your control and your not fighting with a windows core api.

as far as wpf, there is a project maestro that is a Microsoft Surface remake using wpf and the wiimote to do all the multipoint stuff Surface does so it is entirely possible.

the calibration app just get screen area, it should have no issue with odd resolutions.

if you have multiple monitors and they are at different resolutions then it maybe trying to use a larger "screen area" than your main monitor is showing.

you can go into the calibration form and manually set the screen size to your resolution and see if that works for you. otherwise just set the text of the panel to be the resolution that it reports and see if there is an issue.

the way it puts those marks on the screen is a certain percentage of the resolution in from each corner, thats how it can handle multiple res'

once again, what res do you run at and how many monitors do you have on? (and by on i mean maybe you have extended your desktop to another monitor out jack and just dont have a monitor plugged into that jack, like if you have a laptop or a dual output card. check it out in your display properties)

go to codeplex and get the wiilib and try the test app in that. if you can run it without bluesoliel then you can run johnnys apps with a simple code change that is commented on in the stickied post

I think the wiimote could track pretty fast but the movement (to the wiimote) wouldn't me that much.

i think if you embed a wiimote into the wig you could use the accelerometer to track it but then you would have a large hard piece of plastic on your head that could fly through your tv at any one time.

but even if you had a few LED's in the wig, i think you could successfully track it unless you were trying to do spinal damage with 1000rpm headbangs.

i think the error you get when you run a .net app from a UNC path is something about crossthreading. i could be wrong, but thats a good call. i didnt even think about that.
