long story short:
you have a reasonable-sized ball (like a dodgeball), stick a bunch of reflective stickers on it, shine an IR source on it, and use one or two wiimotes pointed at a space to turn that ball into a big honkin' 3d trackball.

 - ideal for manipulating 3d objects in a 3d space
 - gesture commands / macros ?
 - only issue I'm stuck on is a click action.  perhaps another usb footpedal thing like that fragpedal?

where the idea came from:
I was standing away from my desk dribbling a ball in my hands while looking at a page of code, constantly reaching forward to scroll around using the keyboard or mouse... and i thought... "if I could only use my little side distraction as a navigation tool..."

I had the same idea two weeks ago but my idea is a 3D desktop
in my design i have two wiimotes at a 90 degree angle and it would track up to four IR pens or one pen with 4 LEDs on it. It would do this by using a circuit to turn one LED on at a time(or moving them in view one at a time would work but only for IR pens)

My first thoughts was that i could attach 3D animated objects to the the four points but as i thought about it i discovered it might be used with Johnny Lee's head tracking, with head tracking a 3D desktop could be a reality, Doctors could practice surgery could draw in 3D and think of the video games!

Im working on it but i have vary little programing skill and im vary busy.
vary cool idea using a ball to control you PC simple things can be the best.

Put that ball in a maze on a table that you lift on each side :)
(what is that wooden game called?)

Cool idea - I'm looking forward to see some result
