My name is Mark Tozer and I've been teaching elementary school in Worcester for 15 years.  This site is truly what the internet is about!  I'm glad I came across it yesterday.  I can't wait to try to make my own wiimote smartboard in my classroom.  I ran down to my local radio shack just after watching Johnny Lee's youtube video.  They didn't have the correct IR Led needed.  I see that since the video was made, there are many more 'pens' to choose from.  I'm looking forward to making my own pen, because I've never done anything like that before.  I am excited to be here.

Here is a guide written by Ben about making or purchasing your IR pen

It is best to use the Vishay TSAL 6400. There are also other IR Leds with similar specification but if you use the recommended one, it will save you a lot of time testing the leds.

Hi Arthur,

To start with the project, you will need to purchase a Wii Remote from your local game store.
You may need to purchase a Bluetooth adaptor also.

You can purchase an IR Pen from one of the IR pen sellers such as from here.

Once you have all the items, you can use Smoothboard to turn your screen into an interactive whiteboard.
