We only discovered the wiimote interactive whiteboard about a week ago and are very enthusiastic about it......Johnny is a legend! Currently we are making up six wiimote board kits.

For our own reference and to share our results with other local schools we have posted what worked for using locally available equipment, see below;

Hey mate, welcome to the wiimoteproject.

Great blog.

I suggest you upgrade your IR-Led you will find the jaycar is not up to the job. I suggest the Vishay TSAL6400 http://www.farnell.com.au min $10 order & no delivery charge. I live in Penrith NSW just out of the 24hr delivery network it takes 5 days to get from UK.

Thanks for the tip about the IR-LED. Is there a noticeable difference with the LED you suggest?

By the way, your blog (http://bloglearningrhhs.blogspot.com/)will be very helpful with our next step...what software to use with the wiimote whiteboard. Thanks for sharing, lots of ideas to keep me busy!

Cheers,

Links4marty  ;D

The following is a rating for all IR-Leds available in OZ.

Vishay TSAL6400 = 9/10 (some say the TSAL5300 is a little better, but I have had no need to test)
Altronics = 5/10
Jaycar = 4/10
DiskSmith = 2/10

If you read my thread: http://www.wiimoteproject.com/ir-pens/electronics-101-sharing-my-mistakes!-***-updated-***/ the photos of a narrow IR-Led are of the Altronics IR-Led which is a little better than the Jaycar one you are using. The thread explains the theory behind it all.

For your project read: http://wyxs.net/web/wiimote/digital_whiteboard.html some really cool stuff.

For all things wiimote & educational checkout my wiimote delicious links, there may be some of interest http://delicious.com/benpaddlejones/wiimote.
