I love technology.  I found this yesterday, and I just about had a mess in me pants.  I ordered my dongle, resistors and I'm stopping by the Shack to get my LED!  I am currently studying to be an English teacher and I completely agree that this would be a fantastic way to get your student's attention.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum. :)

You may want to just purchase an IR pen to save you the trouble of making one.

Thanks.  I'm not terribly technologically impaired (my father has a degree in Electronic Engineering and put together motherboards for 15 years.  He taught me a thing or two), so I don't see any harm in trying to make one.  I get the angle, forward voltage, forward current, etc stuff.  Although, that Sabre does look mighty pretty, I tell ya what.
