Hi Jake,
You can get a battery operated one from such as
http://www.wiimoteproject.com/other-ir-products/stationary-ir-light-source-for-'presenter-mode'-easy-right-click!/
The IR LED will not consume much power and thus the battery should be sufficient. If you are powering via AC, you will need a AC-DC converter and a voltage step-down transformer too.

Well I ordered that one, but my wiimote doesn't see it if I'm more than 5 feet away. Not very useful... I will order a USB sensor bar from ebay insteat.
Thanks anyways!
Hi,
Have you checked the IR source via a camera?
If the battery power is sufficient, your issue may be caused by the low radiant angle of the LED.
This issue is apparent when you are not facing the Wii Remote from directly in front of the Wii Remote. From my own experimentations, the Wii Remote should be able to detect the IR LED at even 5meters away as long as it is within the radiant angle of the LED.
To allow the Wii Remote to detect the IR source even at tighter angles, I would usually recommend to disperse the emitted IR by roughening the IR LED's surface. This will allow flexibility in your movements.
