Hello I'm a french student and this year, in my classroom, we have to prepare a "TPE", a survey, a kind of overview ( sorry if my english isn't wery well, I'm just 16 years old ^^)

My subject is the wiimote whitboard and we have to explain the working (how the computer know were is the pointer ? ).
My question is : How the calibration is working ?Why we have to do this before using the whitboard ?

Calibration of wiimote whiteboard

Reason for it:
The wiimote most likely has a wider field of view than the surface (projected area) has.
Let me try to show you in a picture.



as you can see all you want to use the Mouse/IR Pointer on is the area where the project or displayed image is.

I hope this explains it.

Thank you very much for your answer !
But my question was more  ;D : about the calculations made in relation to the 4 initial points .
Once the 4 points have been found we know the distance between the 4 points (proportionally to the projected image -if I've  understood well >:( -) ; how do we know the position of any point on the board ? (how do we calculate it ?)

If you try BoonJin's Smoothboard you will see clearly how much of the working area that is calibrated



(the parially white area)

Exactly how it works (in code) is something I have to look into
