Title: Problem with Whiteboard
Post by: Donny on February 05, 2009, 02:29:21 PM

I ordered a IR pen from ebay, and thought i'd give this a shot.

However, it isnt what I expected it to be compared to chung lees video. no matter where i place and position wiimote i get very erratic movements of the mouse pointer if i point the IR marker to the screen. more than half the time the cursor isnt even in sync with the IR markers position on screen.  It only seems to work if i hold the IR marker in front of wiimote and move wiimote as  if I held a lighter instead.

I am using an LCD mind you.  I've tried both white/smooth boards.  Not sure if it matters or not but i noticed in jonnys videos has he tracked the whiteboard squiggly designs appeared. Is that common ? If so, I dont get any squggly lines. ( if it matters)

Here is the Ir Marker that came today.

Is it supposed to light up?

Your IR-Pen is good Wiiteachers make a nice pen.

IR-Light is in the spectrum of light not visable to the human eye. Use a digital camera to see it illuminate (the illumination you see in JCL's videos are becuase he filmed it with a digital camera).

I'm guessing you are using Johhny's demo application. Download boonjin's software http://www.smoothboard.net he has fixed all the bugs and made calibration easy.

Read the setup guide at http://www.boonjin.com/smoothboard you are only interested in ignor steps 2-4 as you have got them covered.
