Hey there,

I am a noobie to the whole Wiimote world, in fact, I don't even own one.  However, I teach electroncs at a high school in Canada, where a fellow teacher and I made a pen and attempted to set up a Wiimote Smartboard in his classroom.  We managed to get the system interactive, but there are very few applications that we are able to control with it.  For instance, we did have success with materials made up in Flash, but attempts to control MS Power Point were unsuccessful, similarly so with IE.  Another teacher purchased a copy of a program called AutoGraph, and we had no luck controlling that with it either.

My question is, is this condition normal, one that users of this homemade technology just need to accept, or is there a simple fix that we can undertake to get this working.

I would appreciate any feedback.

Best regards,

Vman

Hi Vman,

The Smoothboard software should work with most software which uses the mouse and keyboard. The IR pen should simulate the mouse click and cursor motions in all the applications including those that you have mentioned.

Also, Smoothboard is also specially made to control Power Point presentations too with the Power Point toolbar.

Maybe, you can describe in detail how you are attempting to control Power Point, Autograph and IE with Smoothboard.

Thanks for your reply.

With Internet Explorer, nothing we tried seemed to work.  For instance clicking on favourites did not yield any result.  I am wondering if we had it (Johnny Chung Lee's software that is) loaded properly.  As I said, we were able to calibrate and have some success with Flash applications.

Do you know if JCL's software is meant to work with standard applications?  If I open up MS Word should it provide full functionality?  Should it work 100% as a mouse?  Should JCL's software work 100% with any application just as though one is using a mouse?

Someone suggested to me that perhaps Microsoft has updated their software to not work with JCL's software because they are the proprietors of the original Smartboard.  Is this true?
